The Strokes have announced a four-date Australian run for February 2027, and they are not travelling lightly. Courtney Barnett and Promiseland will support all four shows, while Sydney gets an additional Beck-shaped cherry on top when the tour finishes at Centennial Park as part of the new Sydney Summertime series. The Reality Awaits tour begins at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on February 13, moves to Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena for two nights on February 16 and 17, and reaches Sydney on February 20.
The dates support The Strokes' seventh studio album Reality Awaits, featuring singles "Going Shopping" and "Falling Out Of Love" and recorded partly in Costa Rica with Rick Rubin before being completed around the world. These will be the band's first Australian headline shows since 2022, although they returned for Harvest Rock in 2025. Courtney Barnett brings new album Creature Of Habit with her, while Promiseland's Johann Rashid has an existing connection to Julian Casablancas through Cult Records.
It is therefore less a conventional support bill and more an unusually tasteful indie-rock family gathering. Sydney, meanwhile, apparently looked at The Strokes, Courtney Barnett and Promiseland and decided the situation still required Beck. Fair enough. For Australian fans who have waited years for full headline dates, the February 2027 run stands as one of the most anticipated guitar-music tours on the calendar.
