24 September 2026 – V1R1S Infects the Chicago Electronic Scene With Debut Single 'Breakdown'

Chicago electronic musician and visual artist V1R1S has introduced the project with debut single and video "Breakdown," a dance-floor-minded piece of electro-pop arriving with a name that makes the artist's infectious branding rather difficult to miss.

First singles have an unfair amount of work to perform: they must establish an identity, attract attention and somehow avoid sounding as though the artist spent three years trying to satisfy all those requirements simultaneously. "Breakdown" takes the healthier route and simply commits to its electronic pulse. V1R1S approaches music with a visual-art background as part of the equation, making the accompanying video feel integral to the introduction rather than an obligatory rectangle generated for social media.

The track also lands during a particularly active period for Chicago independent music, alongside new work spanning art rock, post-rock, dream pop and experimental electronics.
