Visible Cloaks return after nine years with the unsettled ambient world of Paradessence

Visible Cloaks release Paradessence on 22 May via RVNG Intl., marking the Portland ambient duo's first full-length album in nine years. Spencer Doran and Ryan Carlile last made a major solo statement with Reassemblage in 2017, a record tied to Japanese environmental music, synthetic timbres and a cool, impossible kind of serenity.

Paradessence arrives in a different world: more fractured, more overstimulated, more digitally exhausted. The album title comes from a word meaning paradoxical essence, and that idea fits the music's shifting design. This is ambient music, but not wallpaper. It is full of tiny events, silences, synthetic woodwinds, human voice fragments, shimmering digital surfaces and passages that feel like a virtual garden flickering under system stress.
