ZORGVOLTS takes chill music to the wrong side of the corridor

ZORGVOLTS’ The Dark Side of the Chill has a title that sounds almost funny until the atmosphere starts closing in. Released on 1 June through Electroclash Club, the album is tagged as alternative electronic, chill, coldwave, dark ambient, dark space ambient, lo-fi, post-punk and synthwave. That is a lot of territory, but it all points toward one useful idea: this is chill music with shadows in the room. Sandro Oliveira frames the album as something different and experimental, possibly even a turning point for the production company behind it.
