Leeds six-piece Adult DVD release their self-titled debut album through Fat Possum after building a reputation on an increasingly frantic live schedule spanning Britain, the United States and Japan. Recorded and produced by the band at The Nave Studios in their hometown, Adult DVD combines hook-heavy indie rock with pulsing bass, club rhythms and a conspicuous affection for 1990s acid house. In practical terms, imagine the indie disco refusing to close when the guitars finish and you are somewhere near the correct postcode.

"Real Tree Lee" helped introduce the band to a wider audience after receiving BBC 6 Music support, while the full twelve-song record contains titles including "Coffin Dodger," "Minimal Criminal," "Jesus Christ Supercar," "Cowboy On Aisle Three," "The Steaks Are High" and "World's Best Boss." Those names reveal another important ingredient: Adult DVD appear constitutionally incapable of being solemn for too long. Humour runs through the music without reducing it to novelty, a useful distinction at a time when quite a lot of guitar music looks as though the band photograph required a briefing on acceptable levels of smiling.
