Aldous Harding shares Coats ahead of Train on the Island

Aldous Harding shared Coats on May 6 as the final pre-release single from Train on the Island, her fifth studio album, due May 8 via 4AD.

Harding has always occupied a strange and special place in indie folk: she can sound delicate and unsettling at the same time, as if a traditional singer-songwriter song has been turned slightly sideways.

Coats continues that world-building. It does not need to announce itself loudly because Harding’s strength is atmosphere, phrasing and the feeling that every lyric contains a private code.
