Northern Irish electronic music innovators Bicep have officially announced their third studio album, SLUG, scheduled for worldwide release on January 29, 2027, through independent powerhouse Ninja Tune. The ambitious eighteen-track collection represents Matt McBriar and Andy Ferguson's first full-length studio album since 2021's critically acclaimed Isles, promising a bold and extensive expansion of their sonic architecture.

To introduce the project, the Belfast-formed duo have released a three-track preview bundle featuring diverse vocalists and producers: "Gas" featuring Lauren Duffus and SOARR, "Ultra" featuring avant-pop vocalist Eartheater and Saskia, and "Equarium" featuring Kehina. These recordings follow September's introductory cuts "Air", "Lemonder", and "Viper", establishing an expansive multi-part rollout that showcases the record's dynamic stylistic breadth.

Bicep describe SLUG as an exploration of deep musical contrasts, effortlessly traversing rave-oriented euphoria, heavy breakbeats, intricate ambient sound design, and vocal-driven songwriting. Guest contributors across the record include George Riley, Clark, KUČKA, Sassy 009, and cellist Julia Kent. The album's intriguing title draws inspiration from marine biology, celebrating the dazzling luminescence of colourful sea slugs in contrast with their modest terrestrial counterparts.

The new tracks arrive accompanied by a cinematic short film directed by Young Replicant, tracing pigeon enthusiasts embroiled in an elaborate urban heist. Bicep have also confirmed landmark live headline dates for 2027, including New York's Knockdown Center and an expansive London arena show in July.
