Los Angeles experimental electronic trio Touching Ice have signed to Technicolour, the adventurous club-focused imprint affiliated with Ninja Tune, releasing their infectious new single "Trace me on2 u". The group consists of Abigail Reese, Dominic Colangelo, and Davis Stewart, who previously turned heads with their genre-bending remix compilation 100 of the Best EDM Songs.
The new single emerged spontaneously during a studio session that had stalled into creative frustration. Visiting Canadian producer CFCF opened Ableton and began tinkering with an arpeggiated synth patch, immediately re-igniting the trio's enthusiasm. Vocals were laid down shortly thereafter in Colangelo's home studio, capturing a raw immediacy that bridges dancefloor catharsis with melodic indie sensitivity.
Lyrically, the band cite the emotional vulnerability of hardcore and emo acts like Title Fight and Sebadoh, translating that raw angst into shimmering dance-pop arrangements. Touching Ice are currently preparing for their first European and British tour dates, eager to take their dynamic sound beyond North America.
Sometimes the most productive decision in a recording studio is abandoning the day's rigid agenda and letting an unexpected loop lead the way. Discover more club crossover anthems in our electronic section and check our daily news.
