Black Willows let Meditate & Destroy echo from the mountain stage

Black Willows’ Live at Palp Festival 2025 arrives on 21 June with the kind of setting that heavy psychedelic music dreams about: somewhere in the Swiss mountains, time apparently standing still, and a band stretching between meditation and destruction. The release includes Meditate & Destroy, a previously unreleased track from the group’s forthcoming album, and the Bandcamp page frames the cassette as a limited, hand-numbered object. That physicality suits the sound. Black Willows describe themselves as a shamanic doom band from Lausanne, and this live document seems built around altered states, heavy repetition and the energy of a place as much as a performance. Doom often works best when it feels less like genre and more like weather. Here, the weather rolls down the mountain with amps attached.
