22 September 2026 – Bleary Eyed Blur Shoegaze and Post-Hardcore on New Single 'Wander'

Philadelphia's Bleary Eyed have released 'Wander', a murky new single that takes the band's shoegaze credentials and drives them somewhere considerably less comfortable. Following last year's album Easy, the group return with a track built from mechanised rhythms, blurred electronics and abrasive guitar textures that sit somewhere between chillwave's faded colours and post-hardcore's clenched teeth.

The song was inspired quite literally by being on the road. The band describe an overnight drive from New York to Atlanta on the way to SXSW, including the unsettling moment of briefly nodding off behind the wheel before pulling over. That combination of exhaustion, excitement and dislocation bleeds into the second half of the track, where the story becomes less literal and more about the strange emotional limbo of touring: far from home, underslept, surrounded by people and somehow still alone.

'Wander' arrives via Born Loser and precedes touring activity with Glitterer and Swervedriver. Bleary Eyed could easily have leaned harder into the current shoegaze revival; instead they have made something colder, stranger and harder to categorise, which is generally where interesting bands start getting dangerous.
