Seattle slowcore favourites Carissa's Wierd have released "I Don't Feel Like I Feel Right," another preview of their forthcoming album Somewhere Further Than Far Away. The record arrives January 8 through Nettwerk and represents the group's first full-length album in twenty-five years.

Jenn Champion and Mat Brooke originally developed Carissa's Wierd during the late nineties and early 2000s, creating beautifully restrained music that became increasingly influential after the band separated in 2003. Members subsequently became involved with projects including Band of Horses and Grand Archives, while Champion continued recording independently.

The new single demonstrates why their original catalogue remains so highly regarded in indie rock. Delicate guitars support Champion's conversational vocal delivery, creating an atmosphere that feels intimate without becoming unnecessarily sentimental. Champion describes the song as an examination of the complicated relationship between past and present, particularly when two people have shared experiences across many different stages of life. Reunions can be awkward affairs, but Carissa's Wierd appear more interested in acknowledging the intervening years.
