Australian singer-songwriter Carla Geneve returns with two new songs, "Guard Dog" and "Move Dirt Around," exploring frustration, uncertainty and the strange ways people attempt to remain emotionally functional when life becomes difficult.
The double release combines Geneve's characteristic guitar-driven songwriting with a darker sense of humour and an increasingly direct lyrical approach. "Guard Dog" examines the reassurance that comes from having supportive people nearby, while "Move Dirt Around" approaches existence from a more pessimistic perspective in punchy indie rock fashion.
Geneve has established herself within Australia's independent scene through songwriting that combines personal vulnerability with the physical energy of alternative rock. The double single provides two contrasting perspectives on the same basic problem: being human remains complicated, but at least somebody has remembered to bring the guitars.
