Philadelphia band Chemical have announced My Little Dogma, a new EP due 26 June, and shared Saturday’s Child, making them one of the stronger small-band discoveries to carry into 26 May. The band released their self-titled debut EP last August and followed it with She She in March, but Saturday’s Child shows that the new EP will not simply repeat that early shape. The song seems to keep changing rooms while the listener is still finding the door.

Stereogum describes collapsing guitar melodies, synths that almost behave like sirens, a sudden reduction in percussion and a final shift into something softer and acoustic-driven. That structure gives the song a restless personality. It sounds less like a normal single and more like a band testing how many skins one track can shed before it falls apart.

The EP’s tracklist includes she she, metal dragon, jesus milk, sound system and saturday’s child, which already suggests a project more interested in texture, images and strange internal logic than clean branding. For 26 May, Chemical are a proper indie discovery item: messy in the good way, ambitious without sounding overproduced, and weird enough to make the next EP feel worth waiting for.
