Stockholm four-piece Clutter release debut album Sugar Rush today through PNKSLM Recordings, converting several years of DIY noise, fuzz and underground momentum into their first full-length statement. Hilda Ander, Emma French, Ove Jerndal and Ville Scott met at music high school and built the band through youth-centre shows and self-recorded material, with Jerndal producing from a basement studio. That origin story makes the group's current trajectory particularly satisfying.

Clutter have already toured with Hinds and ShitKid, appeared at Pitchfork Music Festival London and Eurosonic, and landed as the only Scandinavian act in NME's 2026 NME 100. Their music draws on the unruly lineage of Bikini Kill, Pavement and Sonic Youth while avoiding the trap of treating 1990s alternative rock as historical reenactment.

Sugar Rush uses distortion and disorder deliberately, placing existential and political ideas inside songs that sound as though they might fall apart but know precisely where the screws are. The members are still only 21 and 22, which makes the confidence of the debut especially striking. Plenty of records are polished until every accidental edge disappears. Clutter have sensibly recognised that sometimes the edges are where the personality lives.
