Acclaimed American singer-songwriter and guitarist Hannah Frances has released "Circadian Heart", her first new single since 2025's widely heralded breakthrough album Nestled in Tangles. Issued via Brooklyn tastemaker label Fire Talk Records, the track is a masterclass in modern experimental folk, pairing complex open-tuned guitar polyrhythms with searching lyrical candour.
"Circadian Heart" takes an unflinching look at the exhausting psychological compulsion to chase emotionally unavailable partners, examining how seeking validation from distant figures turns into a destructive habitual loop. Frances treats the subject not with self-pity but with analytical clarity, charting the difficult internal transition toward cultivating self-worth.
The track is paired with an evocative music video captured at Illinois' Waterfall Glen State Park, directed by Derrick Alexander and edited by Frances herself. Lush forest canopies and autumnal prairie landscapes visually mirror the song's thematic meditations on seasonal transformation, cyclical healing, and shedding outgrown emotional habits.
Frances is currently undertaking a European tour with appearances scheduled at Brighton's Mutations Festival, headline dates in London, and festival showcases across Spain and Portugal. Explore more adventurous acoustic music in our folk directory and keep up with the music news feed.
