Jasmine Myra finds growth and strings on Where Light Settles

Composer, bandleader and saxophonist Jasmine Myra releases Where Light Settles on 15 May via Gondwana Records, continuing her evolution after Horizons and Rising. The new album is her first self-produced work, with Gondwana’s Matthew Halsall joining as co-producer, and it was recorded over five days at The Nave Studios in Leeds.

Myra is accompanied by her longtime ensemble as well as a 15-piece ensemble conducted by Ozzy Moysey of Leeds’ Ancient Infinity Orchestra. That expanded setting matters because Where Light Settles introduces a stronger string presence into her folk-influenced, jazz-adjacent sound. Lead single Reflections captures the album’s emotional center: bittersweetness, pain, growth and the moment after hardship when something becomes clearer.

Myra’s music has always operated in a space where jazz, ambient calm and modern composition overlap, and this album seems to deepen that language without losing accessibility.
