Australian-born, Aotearoa New Zealand-based songwriter and poet Jazmine Mary has announced Country Milk, a new full-length album scheduled for arrival on November 27, 2026. The announcement is accompanied by lead single "Shower Beer", a tender and wry indie folk ballad featuring musical contributions from esteemed regional collaborators Cass Basil and Vera Ellen.
The album succeeds Mary's critically lauded 2025 effort I Want To Rock And Roll and came together during an unusually spontaneous and concentrated studio window. Mary recorded the entire eight-song collection over the span of approximately four weeks, favoring unvarnished first takes and warm collaborative intimacy over protracted studio perfectionism.
"Shower Beer" welcomes listeners into the album's dreamlike pastoral world through gentle fingerpicking, hushed vocals, and subtle ambient textures. The accompanying music video, conceived and directed by Mary, features a captivating visual performance alongside New Zealand screen veteran Yvette Parsons. The tracklist also encompasses "Bloodline", "You're A Good Man Girl", "Holy Unknowing", "Milk", "Geese", "Bend", and "Tin Of Fish For Breakfast" (featuring Vera Ellen).
Mary's songwriting shines in its ability to balance emotional vulnerability with wonderfully eccentric everyday observations. "Shower Beer" might sound like an unconventional title for an introspective folk tune, but the greatest independent songwriters have never needed high-gloss luxury to uncover genuine poetic resonance.
