Jonas Arthur drives HOLLYWOOD away from the usual boulevard mythology

Jonas Arthur’s HOLLYWOOD is not interested in the standard Los Angeles fantasy. Released on 7 June from On The Run, the track uses the idea of Hollywood as a point of contrast rather than a glittering destination. Written, produced, performed and engineered by Arthur himself, it carries the self-contained energy of an artist building his own lane without waiting for permission. The Bandcamp tags place the song around alternative, Christian, indie pop and singer-songwriter music, and that combination gives it an interesting position in the day’s release batch. This is not worship music dressed in vague aesthetics, but it is also not secular indie pop with spiritual language sprinkled on top for flavour. It feels more direct than that: a song about identity, faith, home and refusing to measure worth by someone else’s map of success. Sometimes the strongest indie statement is simply owning exactly where you stand.
