American guitarist and songwriter Kora Puckett has released "In My Veins", introducing a new chapter in his solo career alongside the announcement of a recording agreement with TODO Records. Puckett is best known for his work with alternative-rock group Narrow Head and has also performed with musicians associated with The Berries, Sheer Mag and Angel Du$t.

Although those projects frequently occupy the heavier end of contemporary guitar music, his solo recordings explore a more relaxed combination of indie rock and country influences. "In My Veins" follows a three-song EP released in 2024 and provides an introduction to his forthcoming debut solo album, currently expected during 2027. Puckett has explained that the song helped establish a different creative philosophy, encouraging him to maintain flexible arrangements and collaborate with musicians whose work he admires.

The accompanying music video was directed by Justice Vaughn Ott and features everyday scenes around Los Angeles, including record shopping, playing with a dog and performing guitar on a porch. Its understated presentation reflects the recording's deliberately informal musical character. Puckett's transition demonstrates how musicians associated with aggressive alternative styles can explore different songwriting traditions without abandoning their established creative identities.

Country-influenced indie rock provides space for personal storytelling and arrangements that emphasise atmosphere rather than volume. The forthcoming album will offer a more complete indication of how far Puckett intends to develop that direction. Apparently the guitarist from a heavy alternative-rock band occasionally wants to sit on a porch and play something considerably less likely to frighten the neighbours.
