Northern California singer-songwriter Lindsay Everly has announced new album Fool's Gold for November 13, an independently released collection that treats Americana less as a fenced-off genre than a particularly useful starting point. Produced by Gawain Mathews, the record moves through classic country, rock, pop, psychedelia and cosmic-country territory while circling ideas of intuition, self-worth and learning to recognise the difference between something genuinely valuable and something merely shiny.

The title track, released in September, demonstrates that flexibility particularly well by placing a classic country narrative over a disco-driven pulse. Next single "Rainbow of the Night" arrives October 20 and moves further into celestial and psychedelic territory. Everly's musical background helps explain the wide field of reference: she grew up in rural Wisconsin, learned piano on a neighbouring dairy farm, absorbed church music, country and classic rock, later studied music in Ghana and now works from Northern California.
