14 July 2026 – Quicksand Still Know How To ‘Bring On The Psychics’

Quicksand prepare to release ‘Bring On The Psychics’, a sharp and urgent album that connects the band’s New York hardcore roots with the perspective of musicians confronting time, age and mortality. Rather than slowing into respectful heritage-rock mode, the trio sound energised by the younger hardcore bands that inherited many of the ideas Quicksand helped establish.

Songs including ‘Get To It’, ‘Cool Guy’ and ‘Days You Run To’ combine churning riffs, melodic tension and reflections on how quickly life accumulates around us. The album was produced with directness and clarity, allowing the rhythm section and Walter Schreifels’ guitar work to hit without unnecessary decoration. Quicksand once helped define post-hardcore by widening what heavy music could contain. Decades later, they remain capable of rewriting their own blueprint without tracing over it. Ageing gracefully is admirable. Ageing while still producing enormous riffs is considerably more useful.
