Rosco P. Coldchain comes back from the mouth of hell with Nicholas Craven beats

Rosco P. Coldchain’s return gets the Bandcamp Daily feature treatment on 22 June, and this is not a simple comeback-season puff piece. Coldchain once looked like a breakout Star Trak voice after his unforgettable appearance in the Clipse orbit, only to have label politics, street life and a 14-year prison sentence derail the path. Play With Something Safe, produced entirely by Nicholas Craven, now becomes something heavier than a rap comeback. It is an emergence from damage, full of prison memory, survivor’s remorse, detail, discipline and a voice that seems to write because not writing would be worse. Craven’s lush loops give Coldchain the space to be vivid without losing grit. The story matters, but the music matters more because it turns that story into craft. Rosco did not simply return. He brought receipts from the dark.
