Three adventurous musicians from the contemporary folk community have announced Banquet Rock, a collaborative album scheduled for February 26, 2027 through Full Time Hobby. The project brings together Spencer Cullum, Erin Rae and Hollow Hand, the recording identity of Max Kinghorn-Mills. Although the musicians had previously contributed to one another's solo recordings, the new album represents their first substantial collaboration as a songwriting trio.

The project began with Cullum and Kinghorn-Mills exchanging musical ideas during weekly online meetings before Rae joined the writing process. Recording subsequently took place over four days at Chale Studio on the Isle of Wight, inside a building dating from the sixteenth century. Additional musicians included drummer Dom Billet, bassist Harry Bohay and guitarist and synthesizer player Rich Ruth.

The resulting ten-track collection combines folk-rock songwriting with pedal steel, pump organ, synthesizers and Rhodes piano. Lead single "Far Below The Willows" draws inspiration from The Wind in the Willows and the psychedelic songwriting of Syd Barrett. The album will be available digitally and in several physical formats, including coloured vinyl editions. A British tour is planned for March 2027, with performances scheduled in Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Oxford, Bristol, London and Brighton.

Banquet Rock demonstrates how collaborative recording sessions can produce distinctive musical identities without requiring years of preparation. Apparently four days in a centuries-old building are enough to create an entire folk-rock album, particularly when the musicians arrive with good ideas and nobody spends the first afternoon debating the catering arrangements.
