3 August 2026 – Sugar Documentary Changes Prepares for Online Premiere

Bob Mould’s Sugar will premiere the twenty-minute documentary 'Changes: The Story of Sugar' on YouTube on 6 August at 5pm BST in 90s indie rock.

Directed and produced by Rob Hatch-Miller, the film follows the group from its early rehearsals during the 1990s to the sold-out London and New York residencies staged earlier this year. New footage captured at Webster Hall is combined with previously unseen archival material, interviews with Mould, bassist David Barbe and drummer Malcolm Travis, and passages drawn from Mould’s memoir See a Little Light.

The documentary arrives at a moment when Sugar’s catalogue is being heard as more than a historical bridge between Hüsker Dü and Mould’s later solo work. The band’s mixture of thick guitar distortion, pop discipline and emotional directness remains a blueprint for numerous contemporary indie-rock groups.
