American power-pop pioneers The dB's have brought their historic reunion performances back into focus with Cycles Per Second: Tour 2024, an expanded live collection now available digitally following its October 30 release through Propeller Sound Recordings. The album received renewed attention in November release listings and precedes a physical CD edition scheduled for November 6.

The recordings document the group's 2024 American reunion tour, which brought together original members Peter Holsapple, Chris Stamey, Will Rigby and Gene Holder. Keyboardist Wes Lachot also participated in the performances. The tour followed reissues of the band's influential early albums Stands for deciBels and Repercussion, introducing their distinctive combination of melodic songwriting and inventive guitar arrangements to another generation of listeners.

The expanded digital collection contains twenty-two tracks, providing a considerably more extensive document than the thirteen-song vinyl edition released for Record Store Day earlier this year. Songs include "Black and White", "Big Brown Eyes", "Love Is for Lovers", "Happenstance", "Neverland" and "Amplifier". Chris Stamey compiled and mixed the recordings, preserving performances from a reunion that attracted considerable interest among followers of American alternative-rock history.

The dB's helped establish musical ideas subsequently developed by numerous independent performers, particularly groups associated with jangle pop and melodic guitar rock. Their influence remains evident in contemporary artists who combine accessible songwriting with unconventional arrangements. Cycles Per Second offers an opportunity to investigate that history through live performances rather than studio recordings alone. Sometimes the most valuable souvenir is evidence that the original musicians still understand precisely why their songs mattered.
