Wiki treats Ancient History like a map of New York written in permanent marker

Wiki’s Ancient History hits the 17 June review cycle with the kind of title that sounds funny coming from an artist still very much in motion. But that is the point. Wiki has spent years making New York feel less like a postcard and more like a set of arguments: borough memory, graffiti code, rap lineage, neighbourhood friction and the strange work of aging inside a city that keeps asking you to prove you belong. Backed by a diverse production cast, Ancient History reportedly finds him thinking about hometown nuance and growing older without losing his subcultural grip. That is a strong space for Wiki. His best writing feels local without becoming small, specific without becoming sealed off. This is rap as city study, but not the museum kind. It is ink still wet on the wall, even when the story is old.
