Danish-Algerian experimental-pop producer and songwriter Zoumer, the recording persona of Yasmina Derradj, has announced a six-track EP titled Life Delay, arriving March 18, 2027, via Big Oil. The opening single "Round and round" features Amman-based Syrian-Palestinian artist mishmish, drawing lyrical and melodic inspiration from legendary Lebanese vocalist Fairuz.
Derradj has broadened her sonic palette on the new record, blending live drum kits, guitars, and acoustic bass with programmed electronic polyrhythms, synthetic woodwinds, and environmental field recordings. Following her March 2026 album e.a.l. (euro arab lovergirl), the EP represents a deliberate move toward open, cross-border artistic collaboration.
Conceptually, Life Delay challenges societal timelines that treat delayed personal and professional milestones as shortcomings, celebrating alternative rhythms of self-realization. The two artists initially forged their creative bond online after Derradj discovered mishmish’s productions.
