Springfield, Illinois band <a href="/tags/attic-salt">Attic Salt</a> release third album ‘STAY IN THE MIDWEST’, collecting songs written between 2020 and 2025. The ten-track record includes ‘Dolly Zoom’, ‘Salt Life’, ‘Flashlights’, ‘Impossible Task’, ‘Middle Tennessee’ and ‘Out Of Town’, titles that map a world of movement, frustration and attachment to place.
The artwork draws inspiration from an old Beach Boys album while replacing California mythology with Springfield references and photographs of the band’s dogs. That is arguably a more honest portrait of regional life. Recorded by Luke McNeill, the album captures a group choosing roots without pretending staying is always simple. The Midwest is presented not as somewhere artists failed to escape, but as a real creative centre filled with relationships, history and puppies important enough to appear on the back cover.
