Exeter trio pushbike release Little Bastard EP today through The Bird Records, the label established by Black Country, New Road drummer Charlie Wayne and Mita De. The four-track collection lasts less than ten minutes, demonstrating that musical ambition does not necessarily require extended running times.
Guitarists and vocalists George Gravell and Niall Ivie formed the group with drummer Tom Grogan around shared interests in indie rock, second-wave emo, hardcore and power pop. The EP was recorded in Bristol with producer Jack Ogborne and includes "Pure Hate," "Rainham Steel," "I Am the Pilot" and "Go Ahead" in a burst of scrappy indie punk.
Earlier preview "Pure Hate" introduced the band's combination of melodic songwriting and abrasive guitar energy, while their wider aesthetic draws inspiration from independent labels including Sarah Records and Cherry Red. Limited cassette and vinyl editions accompany the digital release, celebrating Exeter's developing DIY community.
