Acclaimed experimental sound artists and composers claire rousay and zander raymond have joined forces for a collaborative LP titled something good, due January 29, 2027, on Thrill Jockey. The project unites two of contemporary music's most sensitive practitioners of everyday sound, electroacoustic processing, and intimate ambient composition.

To herald the LP, the duo have shared "can't we have both", one of only two vocal-driven offerings on the nine-track release. The song originated with an instrumental sketch composed by raymond in Chicago, upon which Los Angeles-based rousay layered conversational vocals, gentle piano chords, field recordings, and tape-manipulated synthesizers.

Developed through an exchange of domestic field recordings between their respective home studios, something good inspects consumer culture, millennial domesticity, and the tender ways people construct emotional identities out of everyday ephemera. Pipe organs, acoustic guitars, and cassette warble interlock seamlessly across the project.

The album stands as a testament to the power of trans-city collaboration, balancing technical sound-design precision with warmth and vulnerability. Discover more contemplative sound experiments in our electronic portal and browse our full music news archive.
