Richmond power-pop and distortion maestro James Goodson, known musically as Dazy, has released MAXIMUMBLASTSUPERLOUD Vol. 2: 24 Songs From 2023-2026 via Philadelphia independent label Lame-O Records. The bumper collection brings together three years of standalone singles and EPs alongside seven brand-new unreleased songs.
Rejecting the traditional four-year album cycle in favour of spontaneous creative explosions, Goodson has treated his discography like a continuous stream of irresistible two-minute hooks. Highlights include "Beat Change", "Something Goes", "Unreasonable Person", "Ricochet", and "Gravity", propelled by buzzing guitars and 1990s drum machine crunch.
The compilation features guest contributions from Mimi Gallagher and Deedee, reflecting Goodson's deep ties to the US DIY scene following recent tours with Militarie Gun, Softcult, and Shady Nasty.
Twenty-four consecutive fuzz-pop bangers might sound overwhelming, but Dazy packs so much melody into every riff that skipping a track is completely unthinkable. Check out more power-pop in our punk section and explore the news archive.
