Dødsmaskin’s Mare Imbrium arrives on 30 June from Rommet ble fremmed, and the title immediately points toward a lunar landscape where the air has been replaced by machinery. The Norwegian project’s own description is beautifully blunt: Death Machine Industrial. The Bandcamp tags do not soften the blow either, moving through experimental, dark ambient, death industrial, drone, post-industrial and power noise. Mare Imbrium, or Sea of Rains, is also the name of a lunar basin, which gives the track a perfect image: a dead plain, impact memory, metallic weather and pressure moving slowly across grey space. This is not ambient for relaxation playlists. It is sound as environment after the lights fail, an industrial moon map where every texture feels like a warning. Dødsmaskin do not make the room darker. They remove the ceiling.
