Eel Men get funnier, stranger and more rhythm-driven on Glass Hammers

North London band Eel Men release Glass Hammers on 15 May, a four-track EP that follows their 2025 self-released debut Stop It! Do Something. The new record includes Glass Hammers, Key Metre Romance, When I Get Rich and Leave The Water In, and it seems to push the band into a more expansive and rhythm-driven direction.

The title track is especially interesting because the band frame it around a decline in human competence caused by distraction and disconnection. That sounds bleak, but Eel Men appear to process desperation through tragedy and comedy at the same time. Recorded live to tape at Gizzard Studios in Hackney Wick with Ed Deegan, the EP uses funk, art rock and experimental pop to explore the awkward human moment when something goes wrong and nobody knows whether to cry or laugh.
