London alternative-rock quartet Hank have announced their debut full-length album, Hero Weak Thing, scheduled for release on November 27 through independent label Star Sign. The reveal lands alongside "Tell The Leaves Not To Turn", an evocative lead single exploring the bittersweet reality that relationships, environments, and personal seasons inevitably shift.
Composed of Lola Stephen, George Frederick, Claryn Chong, and Ashley Cooper, Hank have steadily built a reputation across Britain and Europe through independent EPs Twist Grip and Spiralic, carving a sound indebted to 1990s alternative rock, shoegaze textures, and inventive guitar tunings. Hero Weak Thing collects nine cohesive tracks mastered by Kevin Vanbergen (whose credits include work with Pixies and Lush) and framed by evocative sleeve art by Serbian painter Marko Obradović.
Stephen explains that the new single captures the quiet desperation of wanting familiar bonds to remain untouched by time, even while knowing that change is unavoidable. Musical nods to The Breeders, Elliott Smith, and The Swirlies run through the record, accompanied by a special London headline launch show and a limited vinyl pressing.
As Hank demonstrate, sometimes the most honest response to unavoidable life transitions is to plug into reliable tube amplifiers and write nine memorable anthems. Check out related shoegaze highlights in our shoegaze section and stay updated with the daily news archive.
