Irish alternative-rock quartet Indigos Ego have released "Following", the fourth single from their forthcoming second album. The Cavan-based group consists of vocalist Anne O'Reilly, Barry Carmichael, Mark Johnston and Paddy Fitzhenry, whose musical influences include The Smashing Pumpkins, Tori Amos and Biffy Clyro.

Their new composition explores uncertainty about the future while recognising the emotional importance of relationships that provide temporary stability. Rather than presenting companionship as a permanent solution to life's difficulties, "Following" acknowledges that even brief connections can become meaningful during periods of personal change. The recording combines atmospheric guitar arrangements with post-rock influences, spacious production and contrasting vocal performances.

"Following" arrives after earlier album previews "Lights Out", released in January, "Space Invaders" in March and "Little Wins" during the summer. Those recordings have introduced different aspects of the band's musical identity while building anticipation for the follow-up to their 2025 debut album Dark Waters. Indigos Ego have also attracted regional attention through their participation in Shannonside Northern Sound's New Irish Music Hero competition, where they reached the final.

"Following" demonstrates how emotionally direct songwriting can remain effective without relying upon exaggerated drama. Apparently the future may be uncertain, but having somebody willing to accompany you through the confusion is still a remarkably good starting point.
