Manchester rapper Nemzzz has expanded his LOCKED IN project with EUROLUXE, a deluxe edition designed to connect contemporary British rap with emerging and established performers across continental Europe. Announced on November 6, the project introduces three newly released collaborations while preparing a fourth for later in the month.
The first recordings are "LOCKED IN" featuring French artist Nono La Grinta, "ICONIC" with Germany's Sosa La M and "MONEY" featuring Italian rapper Artie 5ive. A fourth collaboration with Spanish artist La Pantera is scheduled for November 20. Rather than assembling an international guest list entirely through remote file exchanges, Nemzzz developed accompanying music videos within the participating musicians' own neighbourhoods. The collaborators also appeared during sections of his LOCKED IN tour, including performances connected with Madrid, Milan and Berlin.
The project builds on the seventeen-track original mixtape, which featured Travis Scott, Lil Yachty, Cash Cobain, Latto and Tunde. Earlier releases including "Do Not Disturb" and "Rent's Due" helped establish Nemzzz as an increasingly prominent figure within contemporary British rap. EUROLUXE demonstrates the commercial and creative opportunities available when artists approach European markets as interconnected musical communities rather than isolated national territories.
Apparently the most effective way to develop international connections is to visit somebody else's neighbourhood, record a song together and allow the local artist to explain where the genuinely good food can be found.
