Pennsylvania melodic-hardcore favourites One Step Closer have announced their third studio album, Zero, set for release on February 19, 2027, through Run For Cover Records. The announcement lands with dual advance singles, "Blue Hour" and "Was It Ever Enough?", celebrating the emotional urgency of early-2000s hardcore and emo.
Having introduced wider alternative-rock textures on 2024's All You Embrace, the band enlisted acclaimed producer Jon Markson (Drug Church, Drain, Koyo) to hone a punchy, nostalgia-steeped sound. The recording sessions drew inspiration from the golden era of burnt CD compilations, VFW hall shows, and heartfelt MySpace-era songwriting.
"Blue Hour" builds slowly from introspective guitar arpeggios into an explosive, cathartic climax, while "Was It Ever Enough?" charges out of the gate with rapid skate-punk tempos and irresistible melodic hooks. A collaborative music video co-directed with Derek Rathbun follows teenage skateboarders attending a DIY outdoor gig.
One Step Closer have scheduled extensive 2027 tour legs spanning North America, the UK, and mainland Europe. Discover more melodic punk anthems in our punk genre hub and read daily stories in our music news section.
