South London musician Sam Akpro has announced Gauzy, a new five-track EP scheduled for October 30 through ANTI- Records. The announcement arrives alongside the title track, which explores personal change, uncertainty and the experience of rebuilding one's life after a difficult period.
The forthcoming release represents Akpro's first substantial collection of new material since his debut album Evenfall appeared in 2025. Earlier previews "Dusty" and "Wayside", featuring TYSON, introduced the project's combination of post-punk, dub influences and psychedelic production. Gauzy continues exploring those musical connections while reflecting the atmosphere and cultural influences of Akpro's Peckham surroundings.
The musician describes the title track as a composition that moves through several different musical environments, almost like scenes from a television programme. Its changing arrangements reflect the uncertainty associated with entering unfamiliar circumstances. The complete EP includes "Headspace", "Wayside", "Dusty", "Gauzy" and "Lost Property".
Akpro will celebrate the release with a special performance at The Greyhound in Peckham on October 29, supported by Riot and the Ether and a DJ set from Kieran Dotwav. The project illustrates the continued vitality of London's independent experimental scene, where musicians frequently combine genres without treating traditional stylistic boundaries as particularly important. Gauzy suggests that Akpro is developing an increasingly personal approach to songwriting while remaining open to unusual production ideas. Rebuilding one's life can be a complicated business, but apparently it becomes slightly more manageable when accompanied by interesting basslines.
