London alternative-rock four-piece The Big Moon have released their highly anticipated fourth studio album Forever through Fiction Records. The release completes a remarkable creative journey forged through personal adversity, health crises, and an intentional commitment to joyful, defiant songwriting.

The record follows 2022's Mercury Prize-shortlisted Here Is Everything and was fundamentally shaped by frontwoman Juliette Jackson's harrowing diagnosis of a cholesteatoma, an aggressive benign growth inside her inner ear. Emergency surgery in 2024 left Jackson with permanent unilateral hearing loss, provoking intense existential panic for an artist whose entire life revolves around music. After an agonizing writer's block during recovery, Jackson adopted an imaginative mental strategy: writing songs from the perspective of herself years in the future, when healing had taken root.

The resulting compositions confront mortality, parenthood, and bodily vulnerability while radiating buoyant gratitude. Standout single "Gravity" drew inspiration from Jackson's toddler son running into her arms after nursery school, crystallizing a transient moment of pure joy. Another centerpiece, "You Remind Me That I'm Dying (and that it's good to be alive)", balances emotional heaviness with soaring indie-rock choruses. The album was recorded over three weeks in rural Norfolk with producer Sam Cohen (Kevin Morby, Danger Mouse).

The quartet—featuring Jackson alongside guitarist Sofie Boyes, bassist Celia Archer, and drummer Fern Ford—will support Forever with an extensive British headline run starting November 18, wrapping at London's O2 Academy Brixton on November 27. The Big Moon prove that authentic optimism does not require ignoring hardship; it means embracing life's fragility with arms wide open.
