The Field returns on 15 May with Now You Exist, his first solo album under The Field name since 2018’s Infinite Moment. Swedish producer Axel Willner helped define a hypnotic strain of ambient techno with records such as From Here We Go Sublime, and this new release reconnects him with that patient, looping, horizon-facing sound.

Released via Studio Barnhus, the five-track album includes In Our Dreams, 333 706, Hey Baby, Another Day and Now You Exist. The titles are minimal, but that suits The Field’s music. Willner has always worked by turning repetition into emotional weather. Small shifts become big movements, loops slowly gather meaning, and the listener is invited to stop waiting for a chorus and instead notice how a sound changes when it refuses to leave.

The album arrives after a quieter period in which Willner released music under his own name on Bandcamp, including mobile-phone-recorded fragments. Now You Exist therefore feels like both a return and a reappearance: the project stepping back into view without chasing modern electronic fashion. For indie-electronic listeners, this is one of the most important 15 May releases because it brings a key minimalist techno voice back into the formal album conversation.
