Indonesian band Zeke and The Popo are turning the run-up to their second album Crazy Life into something more interesting than another countdown timer. Ahead of the record's October 7 release, the group are staging listening sessions across nine Indonesian cities through September and October.
The series began in Bekasi on September 18 and Bogor on September 19 before moving to Tangerang on September 26 and Bandung on September 27. October brings stops in Semarang, Yogyakarta, Solo and Surabaya, with the Surabaya session landing on the album's release date. A final Jakarta event is scheduled for October 11, with its location still to be announced.
It's a smart, pleasingly physical approach to introducing a record in an era when album campaigns can easily become little more than links bouncing between social platforms. Listening sessions turn the release back into a communal event and, by spreading them across several cities, give fans outside Jakarta meaningful access to the campaign.
