23 September 2026 – Clan Of Xymox Return With Two-Track Single Broken Heart - Fire

Amsterdam darkwave veterans Clan Of Xymox have released "Broken Heart - Fire", pairing two new tracks in a compact digital release through Metropolis Records. "Fire" will already be familiar to attentive concertgoers because the band has been testing it during recent live shows, while "Broken Heart" completes a two-song package arriving in high-resolution digital form.

More than four decades into their career, Clan Of Xymox remain one of those bands capable of making the word "goth" sound like a musical description rather than instructions for buying curtains. Their early association with 4AD helped establish the group's mixture of post-punk, synthpop and dark electronic atmosphere, while founder Ronny Moorings has kept the project active through numerous changes in personnel and fashion.

Today's release follows 2024 album "Exodus" and its related remix projects, proving the band has little interest in quietly becoming a heritage act wheeled out exclusively for anniversary festivals. There is something rather pleasing about musicians from the first major European darkwave generation releasing new work in 2026 without needing to announce that they have "rediscovered their roots". The roots were never particularly lost. They were simply standing in a dark club somewhere while everybody else briefly became obsessed with acoustic ukuleles. "Broken Heart - Fire" is available digitally now, with the band's touring schedule continuing into 2027.
